Hi everyone,
Checking in from Dallas, Texas. I have a 94 N/A that I've been planning to do a 3VZ-FE swap into for months now and finally got it started. I dropped the 5S engine out last weekend and have been prepping the JDM 3VZ that I bought from Canada to go in, doing the seals, water pump, timing belt.

Running into a few issues related to getting the 3VZ ready. Basically the engine dealers, in order to get the engine out as fast as possible, cut a lot of wires and hoses that cost you hours. The reason I bought an already-assembled 3VZ was so I wouldn't have to take it all apart, but I had to take off the upper and lower intake manifolds just to connect a new knock sensor harness because they cut it. Now I'm having trouble figuring out where all the hoses go, because I am a stupid noob. Can you guys please help.

Hopefully this one is easy, there is a tiny little metal tube. What plugs into this?

This next one is a little more annoying. There are 4 vacuum hoses near each other. I took a guess at where #'s 1 through 3 go, I'm pretty sure #3 is right based on the natural bend in the hose, but #4 is unattached but it looks like it wants to go where #1 or #2 go.

Lastly, I'm pretty sure this is the fuel supply line. But the engine undertakers cut it and now I'm stuck like this. I've never worked with a junction like this before. Is it hard to undo this connection and get a replacement rubber hose on here? I have the rubber hose, just never messed with this kind of connection. If I have to take everything apart again to put on another fuel rail just because these people cut this line to save a few seconds, I'm going to be pissed.

Thanks all and sorry for the noob questions, hopefully it can help someone in the future inexperienced like me.

The fuel issue is easy, you need to cut the ferule very carefully with a rotary tool, it'll leave you with just the pipe with nice raised notch that you can attach a new fuel line to using a fuel clip.

Search through some of the build threads, its all in there.

Thanks Garbe, was missing that it was called the ferrule. Did some searching on that and like you said I cut it with little problem using a Dremmel tool. I need to find the fuel clip to make the new connection, not sure where.

Change of track, I've done hooking up the 3VZ harness to the engine to go in. I haven't done any wiring except reinstall the 3VZ harness onto the engine side. But is there any wiring that needs to be done or should be done with the engine out of the car, that would be much harder to do with the engine in place?

Nope, it's all straightforward once its in.

Hi all, thanks for the help I am almost done except for the exhaust and the throttle cable. I decided to remove the JDM upper air intake chamber and replace it with the USDM one. There were a bunch of things I capped off on the JDM one related to EGR that the USDM one has, so when I went to hook everything back up I found this connection and wasn't sure if it was used or not. Searching the forums I found DougieG had the same question and this pic is from him. Forum people said to just cap it off. But I don't know if I need it at all for mine. Does anyone know what this connection is used for?

Pretty sure that one was the power steering vacuum connection which we just blank off.

Yeap, just a vacuum pipe that I just routed to another unused vacuum line to blank off.

There's some pictures on my build thread somewhere?
