Nice find. Hardly show stopping performance i agree. Can make out an off-set in tyre width front and back. :)

Yeah, I saw that as well...means it's not going to be 50/50 power split methinks!
TWITCHY off the line as well!
Looked very twitchy all the way
Looks more set up for gravel than tarmac. Maybe it's just a collectors and it was under orders to be REALLY carefull.

Yeah maybe it's meant for gravel like Olber said. Interesting though. If anyone recognises it, fancy posting up some info?
mmmm..... WANT ONE. Even if it's just to look at for a while.
I spent MONTHS trying to work out how to do 4wd in a mk1. Only ever came up with one way of doing it, but not sure if some of the parts needed would even exist let alone be freely available.

I've got a long-standing plan to do a 4WD conversion to mine, but I'm keeping my gob shut - learnt that the hard way!

Cool some pics there that I don't have in my collection.
The driver in the clip was telling us (Richard and myself) that he had the boost turned right down and the car was still a handful, he had a nice long natter with us which was cool. IIRC it was only developing in the region of 300bhp on the day.
It's one of 11 made and 3 remaining, 2 black ones are in Germany (TTE) and one in the museum in Japan (the white one). TTE have longitudinal and transverse mounted engined cars in their 'store'. I found a pic of the 2 black ones together on the net.

oooo going to have to have a lie down now. Thanks Keri! :praise2:
Where's the furious masterbation emoticon?
It's not fair you have to keep your gob shut mate. It would be really difficult to do a 4wd but if this thing pictured above is 4wd then there have to be plans knocking around somewere to get you started. Same about the mk2 2000 (or whatever the racing version of the mk2 was called) when people want to replicate that down to the engine used etc. Some boffins had looked into it and it could possibly skip you ahead a few years maybe. Something like that is pure TB spirit and i think people would want to help in anyway.
Maybe even kick-start this thread again:

Yeah that'd be amazing. Tonnes of power and through all wheel drive. If the engine and layout won't fit that car. Make the car fit the engine and layout :)

Yeah, that's life though. I used a bit of logic to work out that a certain brutal swap must be possible having seen the engine used in a Mk2 Escort and some MX5s, and emailed someone to see what they thought. Pretty much the reason I bought my AW11 in fact!
Needless to say after the email they went ahead and tried it (not that I have the right to say that they can't, or proof that we didn't by some incredible chance both have the same idea at about the same time) resulting in a lot of publicity, and I never even got a public "nod" for the thought/research I put into the idea before it was taken over.
Lesson learnt, I'm not that bitter but it's enough to have stopped me suggesting new things I might try to people since!

that is a pisser hate that they never gave you the knod in recognition of all the hard work you did, some people are all about robing the ideas so they can make money not about furthering the research and upgrading our cars to make them better than standard,at least you are helping members in the club with alternative brake upgrades.
hope your idea come's to fruition and you get the recognition you deserve.

Yeah, it stopped me from trying it myself, hence the rather more complicated "secret plan B".
The only person I think I've told about plan B ---from memory???--- was El Presidente (as a witness really!) when he dropped by to grab his brakes, that and gave him a demo of the also secret prototype "Zen" AW11 HiFi setup!

Well it's best not naming names etc and i understand that but it is really poor to have stolen an idea off you like that. That's incredibly low. Fair enough to have a go themselves but like snow said they should have given you the nod. It was your idea!

I see why it's best keeping to yourself now but such a shame you can't be open and get help, because there are people willing to rob the idea and hard work off you. Really not fair on you. I hear such great things about your products and how great they are but when you need help something like that happens. Fucking pisser.
Keep the idea going forward and good luck with it!!!
I never knew there were transverse and inline versions of this car.....would love to know what that gearbox is from....looks very german to me....

Interesting point! I wonder if some of the photos are of replicas? The pages I got them from were mainly in Japanese, I can only speak it a little and read it not at all...

Now THAT is a bodykit that Ben should be producing....??
The daddy of them all, for Mk1's.....!?
Producing the moulds would need to be a custom jobbie, though?
I can't see the nips / krauts letting him "borrow" one to mould off, can you......? rotflmao
