Removed from a Rev 4 Turbo so should be LSD, but it does not have a bar through the middle.

So the question............is it a Stock non-LSD or is a Aftermarket LSD?

Other pics of diffs welcome to compare.

I've got similar question. I bought an used aftermarket LSD for my E153 gearbox. Unfortunately there is no logo on it. Only number 0305. Maybe someone knows from which manufacturer it comes from?

Some pics:

On the left aftermarket LSD and on the right OEM E153 LSD.

Strange. I went to look at a E153 LSD box at the wreckers the other day. They were insistent that it had an LSD in it, but it didn't have a bar through it. It had the washer look that the above one has. When the shafts were in it, it was almost like a welded diff when trying to rotate one of them... ODD. It didn't behave like a modern LSD should...

Emteca, isn't that diff on the right not an LSD? Looks like a standard open cage diff to me?

Totally ignore the bar/hole rule, it simply doesn't work when trying to identify an LSD.

Paul, I understand the standard E153 LSD boxes have a bar through them, but in some cases with after-market LSDs, they can have a bar, or a plate with a hole. Then again, the standard diff is a plate with a hole too.... I figure there can't be too many boxes out there with after-market LSDs in them?...

From what I've read, if the LSD in the first post has a 5mm hole through the center, chance says it's a TRD LSD.

Problem is Bev, you can't tell if an aftermarket diff has been fitted unless you take the box apart or use an endoscope camera...
