Hey all well after doing bundle of research on up boosting my rev2 tubby engine................it seems i've spent alittle to much time on this forum as I'm beginning to look more toward the v6 route............... so i'm now thinking why dont I build the best of both worlds I'm going to diy a v6 boosted gt28r turbo beast lump an squeeze it into my mk2 with custom I/c similer to Whoozy's build but I plan on doing some work to the internals. I've been doing alot of sight seeing on a v6 twin turbo build thats already been done but im opting for single turbo..............now heres where my boggle is I need someone local that I can come an have a look at the bay as pics arent as accurate:thumbsup: If anyone has alittle free time I would very much appriciate it.

I'd say go a turbo bigger if you can... The GT28R is perfect for a 2ltr 4pot, but for the 3ltr 6 pot, you need something a little bigger, or you'll over work the turbine at the higher boost.

Check this out for the sizing mate

thanks johnny mate I see what you mean about the gt28, so I'm best off saving for the GT3076R then right? okay but what compression is running on the v6 as standard? is it very high 10's or 11's?? Also to run a gt3076r safely do I have to drop the piston compression lower than 9.2.1?

The 3VZ runs 9.6:1 - get a GT3076R on there with an AEM and a good map and you're ono a big winner there mate

that'd be great whoozy keep me informed, bsm let me know aswell also is a mk1b a mk1 3s-gte? coz I'll have a spare rev2 3s-gte once I get started on my v6 build. I was thinking of fitting it to something completly different like a honda....lol but anyway I wanna learn all about building a v6 tubby

Drop me a pm or ring me on the number in my sig after 3 (I work nights) and I'll do my breast to sort out a looksy at Cheech's car. I have 2 Mk1b's and Jiff has a V6 Mk1 close too. So plenty to look at and work out what you want to do mate.

a Mk1 b is a revised version of the mk1a. i think there were a few minor changes in interior and exterior trim levels. but the engine was still the crappy little 4age. with a 3s-gte in a mk1, they are commonly known as a Mk1.5, and for the V6's, they are known as Mk1.6 / 2.6 / 3.6 depending on mark!

Also gearbox I understand that I can use my rev2 tubby gearbox on the 3vz is it direct bolt up ir is a mating plate needed?
