Starting to put the engine back together now, what do people use on parts that done have a 'normal' gasket. From memory the sump, bits around the water pump etc etc.

Thanks
Jim

Any silicon sealer will do , i tend to spend a little more and get Loctite stuff in mastic gun as it's closer to OEM sealer .

most motor factors will have plenty of different brands of the stuff to choose from mate

but as he said ^ spend a bit more and get a quality name.

I recall Hylomar being good stuff - have started using it myself and it seems ok...

Any hi-temp oil resistant Silicone RTV sealant will do

The gasket set I got from the states had pretty much every gasket including the sump - my water pump came with a gasket aswell, in the manual it says to use some rtv sealant

Just go into your local motorfactor and ask for RTV Instant Gasket Jimmer - they'll hook you right up.

For the record the orange one has the best flavour.

btw you should have used some of this when you put the cam covers back on - check the manual and it shows where you need to put blobs of the stuff.
